Check out your Facebook news feed; do you notice anything different?
This week Facebook launched a new Sponsored Story option for your page – Promoted Posts. Whether you are looking to increase your number of likes or the reach of your page, Promoted Posts now provides a simple alternative to traditional Facebook Ads.
Instead of purchasing an advertisement for the right column of a potential customer’s news feed, you are now able to sponsor a story for three days in your fans’ news feed. Promoting the story enables you to reach the feeds of more of the people who like your page than normal, as well as friends of fans who interact with your post.
Without promoted posts, Facebook says that only 16% of fans can see a post based on the company’s standard algorithm from all posts by users or brands. By paying, Facebook ensures that 75% of fans see a post.
News feed stories are intended to show users recent and popular content within their social network. With this in mind, you are only able to promote posts within three days of adding the status update, photo, offer, video or question on your page.
